It all started in the south of France. In the heat of summer and surrounded by singing cicadas, the idea of Garnet District was born.
But in fact, the beginning was years earlier.
Garnet District has been on my mind a long time before it even had a name.
It was already there when I was looking at beautiful lingerie and lingerie-inspired clothing every day.
When I was slowly building my own collection with so much joy and excitement.
When I spent hours trying on things and mixing and matching them to create new empowering outfits that I could wear out.
And when I was connecting to other fellow lingerie lovers, exchanging styling ideas and discussing designs and construction.
Ultimately, Garnet District is the result of passion and the longing for art. It is a creative, imaginative place for like-minded people who, like me, want to be inspired and walk tall.
Lingerie and lingerie-inspired clothing is a sensual matter on many levels. It sparks our imagination, pleases the eyes, and provides us with a tactile experience that’s second to none. I firmly believe that the shopping experience should be part of this sensual journey. To achieve this, art and fashion need to go hand-in-hand. Garnet District’s dedication is therefore to offer you not only a shopping platform, but also a gallery of inspiring fashion photography.
The Garnet District aesthetic focuses on an exclusive selection of brands, styles and colours. It presents a cohesive narrative and encourages you to mix and match to your heart’s desire. This is my core philosophy and personal commitment for Garnet District. A curated closet which aims for quality and is selective, which favours a fierce, lingerie-inspired personal style that demands attention, and which invites you to creatively re-arrange its pieces to create ever-evolving new looks.
With this in mind, it was important for me to think across brands and beyond seasonal collections. We all like, own and purchase from different labels, want to be inspired how to mix and match them to get the most wear out of our purchase, and eventually have a more ethical and sustainable wardrobe.
It takes courage to wear underwear as outerwear and might not seem compatible with everyone's personal lifestyle. I want to tackle this misconception and give styling ideas of how you can slowly introduce sensual, luxurious pieces into your everyday life.
We are always growing and developing who we are as a person, so of course, our style will continue to change and evolve as well.
A curated closet is one which grows and evolves with you. The wish to wear a certain style might already be lingering inside you, it just needs a trigger to be realised.
It helps and inspires me to see how other women are wearing lingerie as outerwear, and I hope with Garnet District I can do the same in return.
